Curlew River

A desperate woman, long in search of her son, tells the ferryman of her sorrow while crossing a river. She learns that her beloved child was killed on the opposite bank of the wide river, buried there, and is now revered as a saint by the people. A heavy, tragic story, told lightly and swiftly, as if drawn in ink, in perfect form.
